Transcript: Gospel Music "Were you there when the gap was bridged" Kirk Franklin is known for his style of Christian Hip Hop & Contemporary Gospel Music he is also known for his accomplishments as a choir director but not as Singer. In 1990 in Dallas Fort Worth Franklin was given the opportunity to debut his song Every Day With Jesus which is one of his most traditional gospel songs he has written. For years Franklin has been writing songs that attract young and old audiences across the world but his most significant work has been with the younger generations who have become excluded from the church due to cultural change. Kirk Franklin has opened the door for many young artists to come into the gospel/christian music industry and be successful in their own way why still fulfilling the ultimate purpose. Moses Hogan, pianist, conductor, and arranger from New Orleans, Louisiana served as a gateway to chorale gospel music. He started composing and arranging chorale music in the 1980's and his works contributed to make negro spirituals and other original compositions available for choral conductors across the world. In 1998 he established the Moses Hogan Singers also known as the Moses Hogan Chorale. Two of his most famous works are Joshua Fit The Battle and Elijah Rock. Moses Hogan Dr. Bill Gaither; songwriter and musician wrote the famous hymn He Touched Me in 1963 and it became one of the most widely known christian/gospel hymns in the world first recorded by Elvis Presley. Gaither also started his own quartet the Gaither Vocal Band(GVB) in the 1980's. Bill Gaither saw the need for those songs created by musicians like Dorsey and Cleveland to be translated and rearranged to fit the style and technique of the Caucasian christian community. Reverend Dr. James Cleveland was a singer, songwriter, musician, and pastor from Chicago, Illinois in the 1950's and 60's. His ministry reached many states during his time to name a few; Chicago, Detroit, Michigan, California, and new Jersey. His many accomplishments can be accredited to Thomas Dorsey "the father of black gospel music". The music that he created put a twist on what Dorsey had done and made the music more accessible for the coming generations. One of his most famous works peace be still.
